Ron RybickiParticipant
I called the guy who works on C4A from Jerseyfield Lake Rd towards Ohio. While he was working here last Thursday the 14th two sleds came by from the Ohio end
told him of two big blow downs across the trail near Mud Lake. they were able to get around and over them. On Friday the 22nd I talked to a rider who came thru there that day and the blow downs were still there. Obviously the Ohio Club has not cut this corridor trail out yet So beware.
I am calling the trail boss to tell him.
The Club was supposed to get in on trail C4C to Mosquito Hill to fix the mud holes at the fly just south of the hill. I hope they did.
RonRon RybickiParticipantGreat–Now I know who Skeeter is–Thank him for me, I already thanked Ed in the Bow last Friday.
RonRon RybickiParticipantI talked to a groomer from the Ohio Club last nite. He said several volunteers are going into trail C4C to Mosquito Hill this coming Saturday to fix the mud holes in that fly just south of the hill. I might see them Friday nite in the Ohio Tavern and buy them a beer or two. He did not know if the trail C4A to Jerseyfield Lake Rd has been touched at all due to lack of snow here. He said the guy who takes care of this section had to fix the bridge over Jerseyfield Lake outlet but thats all he knew. The DEC was supposed to fix this trail this year but it does’nt sound like they did anything. I called him also. He said there is enough snow but you have to be aware of some rocks here and there, so go slow. He is fixing the mud holes him self. The DEC never got to do anything on this trail as we were promised by the Senior Forester in Watertown (Dave Smith) I”m sure they all going to blame covid. I do know the Commissioner curtailed all of the foresters work miles down to one day a week, stating the economy due to covid. Forget the safety of the snowmobiling community. Its now 21 years that we have been trying to get these trails safe enough to ride and I have heard every excuse in the book from these guys. I am now 80 and I said 10 years ago that by the time the DEC gets to do anything here, I will be to old to ride. I probably am right.

Ron RybickiParticipantShould mention that if you ride any of the lakes before we get the freeze coming this week end that you can encounter slush and you dont want to get stuck with a 6 year old. It sounds like he’s staying off the lakes any way.
RonRon RybickiParticipantRode Evergreen Lake this past Saturday and was great early on but slush was getting deeper as this 16 inches of snow was heavy and wet. As the trails got packed in by sleds we lost cooling and we got hot so turned around. Out scratches helped but not much. I talked to other riders that had the same problem. Also talked to guys who tried Lewey Lake Sunday. Made it across but turned around at the camp ground and came back to Perkins. New trail around Evergreen Trailer Park is working great and was groomed this past Sunday as was the trail (S88) to the Powley Rd. Powley Rd was a 10. Met the big BR180 heading back to Rt 10. I talked to riders at the Powley place that rode to Salisbury Saturday. They had a great ride. Club was not very busy. They were headed to the Pleasant Lake Inn where I heard the trails around Startford and Oppienhiem ware all great. This from friends on face book.
Piseco Lake has not had any sleds riding it that I could see at least on the west end. I know they are near the island fishing on the east end. My friend sez he walked out with a ice bar and cut 6 inches quite a ways out near the center of the lake but he said the slush was bad and he aint taking a chance. We all been there and do not want to chance either. My wife will not go to on Piseco until she sees a pick up on it or at least 10 to 15 sleds blowing down it
Over and Out RonRon RybickiParticipantI talked to a groomer Friday nite who drags trails in Morehouse (1/15/21) in the Oxbow Inn. He said they built two new bridges to Mosquito Hill and all is OK now but they went south to see if Ohio did any thing on their section. The mud holes in the fly just south has not been fixed. You will have to wait for the fly to freeze before you can get thru or try to plow thru the mud to get any further.
I am going to call the Pres. of the Ohio club cause we had planned to head this direction to get to the Alamo in Poland this coming week end.
We got at least 16 inches of the white gold around north Arietta and Morehouse. My other friend said it gets a little sparse as you get lower in elevation near to Ohio but its mostly fields and is good to ride. They went to the Ohio Tavern this past Saturday and had a great ride.
RonRon RybickiParticipantThis past Sunday–Saw tracks on Lake Pleasant, Ox Bow and Evergreen Lakes Cant say how much ice but Piseco just locked up last Wednesday the 6th. The west end did not look that good–Bare ice and dont know how thick. Panther Mtn stream at the west end is still cutting into the lake for quite a way. Dont forget about the new trail off the lake at the west end. (see my earlier trail report) A lot of ice fishermen at the east end by the island and out into the middle. My friends rode Evergreen onto the Morehouse trails and said it was not to bad considering the amount of snow cover. They are riding the Powley Rd. bare in desperation. Evergreen Lake is very shallow and locked up during huntin season. Morehouse boys are always out there working their trails all year.
Thank you Morehouse boys.Ron RybickiParticipantAs a couple of guys here said, Glad to see the forum back. Darrin, As you know I am kind of computer stupid but I will try to figure out how to post some good news about the great trail work down here in Arietta, Stratford and Ohio.
