    Good news–I hope
Willis Mtn. trail (C8)- mud holes fixed and new bridge over Fall Stream heading up into Perkins Clearing or Fawn Lake.
Jerseyfield Lake Rd. to Ohio (C4A)-mud holes fixed and new bridge over Jerseyfield Lake outlet and mud holes fixed (C4C) to Mosquito Hill and on to Hoffmeister
Piseco Lake-new trail off the west end of the lake (north side, just before you go for a swim in Panther Mtn. Stream cutting into the lake) ) onto Piseco Rd. for about 500 ft and onto old military rd. to (C4A) behind the Piseco Lake Lodge. Old bridge to the lodge shot and town not replacing it.
Evergreen Lake Trailer Park-new trail getting on and off the lake around the park ( idiots would not stay off his gravel pit berm )
Several new bridges (C8) over mud holes below Avery”s old place along Rt 10 towards points heading south.
I have not seen the trails but have talked to the folks doing the work and the DEC forester here.
    A big thanks to all.

Rode Evergreen Lake this past Saturday and was great early on but slush was getting deeper as this 16 inches of snow was heavy and wet. As the trails got packed in by sleds we lost cooling and we got hot so turned around. Out scratches helped but not much. I talked to other riders that had the same problem. Also talked to guys who tried Lewey Lake Sunday. Made it across but turned around at the camp ground and came back to Perkins. New trail around Evergreen Trailer Park is working great and was groomed this past Sunday as was the trail (S88) to the Powley Rd. Powley Rd was a 10. Met the big BR180 heading back to Rt 10. I talked to riders at the Powley place that rode to Salisbury Saturday. They had a great ride. Club was not very busy. They were headed to the Pleasant Lake Inn where I heard the trails around Startford and Oppienhiem ware all great. This from friends on face book.
Piseco Lake has not had any sleds riding it that I could see at least on the west end. I know they are near the island fishing on the east end. My friend sez he walked out with a ice bar and cut 6 inches quite a ways out near the center of the lake but he said the slush was bad and he aint taking a chance. We all been there and do not want to chance either. My wife will not go to on Piseco until she sees a pick up on it or at least 10 to 15 sleds blowing down it

Willis was near perfect when I rode it today. New bridge over fall Stream is really nice.

Went in Jan 10 from the former Arietta Hotel to C8 past Third lake, and S82 to Spectacle Lake trail clearing with Stratford. Trails should be really nice now the all the snow and cold.

I called the guy who works on C4A from Jerseyfield Lake Rd towards Ohio. While he was working here last Thursday the 14th two sleds came by from the Ohio end
told him of two big blow downs across the trail near Mud Lake. they were able to get around and over them. On Friday the 22nd I talked to a rider who came thru there that day and the blow downs were still there. Obviously the Ohio Club has not cut this corridor trail out yet So beware.
I am calling the trail boss to tell him.
The Club was supposed to get in on trail C4C to Mosquito Hill to fix the mud holes at the fly just south of the hill. I hope they did.

I rode Evergreen this past week end and the west end is mostly frozen slush. Bad but passable so slow down or your going to dump it My friends came down Piseco and the same thing. She was scared to death of tipping over, the frozen ruts were so bad. Her husband tried to make his own track but the slush was so deep, he gave up and got back into the frozen ruts. I’m sure all of the lakes are like this.

Not totaly happy with Arietta’s grooming on the west end of town so far. Cant complain to much though cause at least they are grooming. But, they groom once during the week and then not until Sunday morning. With all the traffic not wanting to brave the slush on Piseco they are going thru Sheriff Lake area from Morehouse and pounding it Friday and Saturday. Wish they could make a attempt on Friday night or Saturday morning so the riders can have a decent ride Saturday night.
On the other hand, More house trails suck. They are so nice and smooth you want to fall asleep. Ha,Ha The French road is bare bank to bank from the salt and sand and our temps were getting up there before we could get off. Not to mention the carbides sparking. The town boys are not leaving any snow on the side for us.
I guess we will have to live with it until the log job is over and the detour ends.

Grooming sleds at the west end of Piseco sat there covered in snow at 1PM this past Sunday. My friends who went thru Sheriff Lake Saturday said it was not good.
A lot of traffic both ways from Morehouse and the Powley Rd. I dont know whats going on here. This town (Arietta) gets $42,000 from our registrations and cant groom 12 miles of trails like Morehouse or Pleasant Riders do on their sections. The trails in a little town like Morehouse can keep their trails great all winter and Arietta cant or wont. I give up.. I have called the town supervisor so many times thru the years that I’m labeled a trouble maker by a few locals. I am giving his cell phone number out to any body that complains to me and tell them I’m the wrong person so complain to.

Same story this past week end. Grooming sleds just sit there. We have a camera in Evergreen Park and as of this past Sunday the trail (C4A) from Piseco Lake to Evergreen Lake has not been groomed in 14 days. The trail from Piseco Lake (S88) to the Powley RD was rough. I dont understand it as the groomers get paid. Maybe they figure that they made enough money for the season. Grooming might very well be done here for the rest of this season. So goes the $42,000 and I dont know how much Hamilton County kicks in. A while ago I heard it was the tune of$20,000. Thats 60 grand to have the worse trails in the area. Its every year that I have been complaining , but again I’m labeled a trouble maker. If it was not for my effort to get the DEC in on S88 and C4 we would still be plowing thru 2 mud holes a couple of years ago. Why did’nt the town do this. Why should a snowmobilier have to take matters in his hands to get a decent trail to ride. The Supervisor told me once that he will not polish the trails that I should ease up a little. I said all I want for the snowmobiling public is a decent trail to ride, not to have to plow thru mud holes.
I will say the trails at this west end of Piseco Lake have been great up to about 2 weeks ago. We can thank cold weather and a lot of snow for this.

    Ron,

I really don’t know what to say. Saw them grooming Fall Lake trail and down to Piseco on C8 yesterday morning (March 10).

Trail connecting Piseco Lake to Evergreen was pretty good as well. It’s a bit annoying they don’t groom that last little bit down to Evergreen Lake just before where the creek cuts through, but hey….

Gotta say the several times I’ve ridden around Arietta this winter were (mostly) good experiences. But then again, I only ride them when the snow is deep and I’ve heard enough favorable trail reports to give it a shot. We’ve all had rides when the Arietta goat paths were horrible beyond belief.

I wish they could find a way to groom that short section from the north end of Powley Road to Route 10. That got so bumpy and rough, I just said screw it and rode the roadside all the way to Spy Lake trail. I’d rather shave a bit of carbide and slides than break something in the suspension.

Looks like our short season is drawing to a close. The ole 4-TEC is nearing 14K miles, so it’s time spring order a replacement. I’m a bit loathe to plunk down big coin on a sled I barely ride for 2 months now-a-days. But I still love to pile up the miles and smiles.

If these winters get much shorter though, it may be time for me to ditch it and find more ways to enjoy the other 10 months of the year…

Great news for the Fall Lake trail as we took it this past Sunday the 7th and the 15 inch track ruts were almost down to the dirt in places.
We have a camera in Evergreen and agree the trail from Piseco Lake to Evergreen was passable but very stuttery to say the least. This trail has not been groomed since Feb. 24th I thought that our registration fee said this corridor (C4A) , high snow formula trail should be groomed. I would hope at least once a week. Maybe they thought that it looked smooth enough from the old Piseco Rd so they would not have to do it for the last 14 days.
As far as the short section on the north end of the Powley Rd. goes. They can’t use the big BR 180 here cause its to narrow in one spot. I can see where a sled or two must have caught a ski and went down the bank into the brush. On the way home a couple of weeks ago a woman waved us down on Rt 10 for help. She went down the bank. Both of us having bad backs told her to wait, that her friends would see that she was missing and come back for her.
Boy, did Evergreen look wet and you could have avoided the log job if you took the Mosquito Hill (C4C) to Ohio, and came back the same way. This is what we are going to do again this Saturday. Morehouse and Ohio have been doing a great job on these trails.

I was fine with shimmying through the log job as long as the riding is smooth on both sides of it.

Evergreen was great, even as wet as it was by late afternoon. Panther Mountain steam wasn’t cutting into the lake. No mysterious sled swallowing holes either. I’ve had great luck on that pond this winter. Helps when there were basically no thaws after Christmas Eve until now.

Only been down to Mosquito Hill once, like 9 years ago and never past that to Ohio. Would like to try that, but probably won’t be this year.

Going back up through Jones Road was awesome. I’m almost never disappointed with that rip.

My friend talked to riders on C4 in Morehouse this past Friday afternoon. The came from Ohio and said the trails in the woods were great except for the bare spots in the log job in between the French Rd crossings. The Phantom Trail (as we call it) from Nobolosboro Bridge to the county line was horrible. No grooming at all so. It was rough when we were on it 2 weeks ago.
We are going to try a run to Ohio thru Mosquito Hill this coming Saturday.. Should be Ok cause it mostly in the woods.
