Who out there has done some riding since the storm on Monday and can give a trail report?

If I can’t be up riding I would at least like to read about others riding!!

All trails in Morehouse are open. There we’re tracks on Evergreen but Ron R. would be a better source on the Arietta end. Mosq. Hill trail (C4C) is in good shape with only a few spots that need some trimming. As of Tues. afternoon Ohio hadn’t been through from Buck Pt. lodge but that could have changed by now. From Junc Ham114 To Jones Rd. (C4) is also in good shape. There is a minor change in the area that was logged last year so proceed carefully through there . For now we’re still using flat drags so trails aren’t quite up to snuff yet but still very rideable.

icicleal, thanks for the information. I wish we had a bit more activity on this forum, especially when it comes to trail reports. When I am able to ride this season I will try to do my part by posting the trail conditions.

This past Sunday 1/16/22 my friend parked at the Rt10 lot and used the towns access trail to the Powley Rd. It was horrible, he had to clear limbs off all the way and it needs more snow. I know the town rarely takes care of this short mile of trail so it always rough. But its only a mile.
Friend said the Powley Rd was good. Banged rocks a couple of time but they took their time and enjoyed it. The big BR 180 has not been out at that date but the road did not have enough snow to make moguls any way.
Its getting there. We only picked up 6 to 8 inches of snow from last Mondays storm but I’m sure it helped.
We have not ride”n Evergreen since 1/8/22 but it still should be at least 60 mph on the straight.
I’m more worried about any pressure ridges or slush on Piseco cause we are going up to camp today to try to get to the OxBow . I dont think there is enough snow thru Sherriff Lake for the town to try to groom to get to or from the Powley Rd to Piseco. Rocks and little cricks. This trail needs some TLC during the off months from the town but they have to pay every one to get this done and it aint going to happen.

We’re long past the bulletin board hay days since Facebook has taken over.

But I’m happy that we do have a few who report here.

    Piseco to Evergreen
Town only groomed on Friday the 21st but it was holding up better than expected on Saturday the next day. Not much traffic yet. Heard from friends that Sherriff Lake to Powley Rd was OK but had to dodge a few rocks. Also heard in the OX Bow on Friday that the trail from Ox Bow to Powley RD was getting beat on the hills. Lot of traffic and need more white stuff. All in All not bad for the amount we got. Going back up this week end to beat them up some more.

    Hey Icicleal
My friends took Morehouse to the Ohio Hotel Friday via the Mad Tom trail. (S46A) Morehouse was great. Mad Tom (S46A) was OK passable but could use some grooming. The Ohio boys are only grooming the roads around town not much on the trails yet. They were lucky to get into the Hotel as by 1PM you had just enough room to stand.
They decided to take the trail to Mosquito Hill via buck point camp.( Herk. 17) Rough all the way but there was an attempt to groom from buck point to the Hill (C4C) from Hill thru Moremouse to Evergreen was great. You guys in Morehouse are wearing out the snow but good for us. To bad Arietta wont spend the money that we give them to do what you guys do.

    Thanks Ron & Ftroopers
Wayne and I went to Mosq. Hill yesterday with both drags and it was in good shape. Worst section of trail is from the town barn to Corchran propetry . ( heading to J114) use caution through there the snow is thin. We picked up about 5″ s yesterday and we should be back on them Thurs. Still want to take a ride with you and the gang before the season ends. If you get a chance give me a call , I had to change phones because of the 5g thing and lost all contacts

Rode from Lake Pleasant out to Sacandaga then Oxbow on Tuesday. Pretty much the woods trails all have thin cover – Page Street wasn’t too bad but leaving Sacandaga and coming out past the cemetery was rough. Lakes are all good with some slush here and there but nothing that gave me pause. A couple spots had some glare ice just under the fluff – that makes it interesting for sure.

Wednesday went out to Fawn Lake and then past the Outhouse and up into Perkins. All of that trail had been groomed and was decent. Definitely some thin spots and rocks here and there but a good ride overall. No issue in Perkins – the town was grooming in there yesterday. Lake Pleasant also groomed the 2 miles from hell yesterday – but it didn’t do much good. It’s pretty bad. Lewey Lake and Indian Lake were a good run. Once you come off Indian Lake into town, its been groomed but is thin. After lunch, went back down through Perkins, across Route 30 and down to Oak Mountain. Brutal. If you don’t have a trailer to get your sled up to Perkins, you should run out to Sacandaga and up the Fish Mtn Trail. Otherwise, you’re in for a pounding and your sled will be beat up as well. Need more snow for sure.

We also went down the river trail from Route 30 to see if we could make it down to old Route 30. Turned around as that trail is ungroomed and in very bad shape.

This is a bit late, but I said I would post my ride report if I got out over the weekend so here goes:
I had some chores to do on Saturday that had to be done so my riding time was limited. I did manage to sneak in a quick ~50 mile ride around Perkins clearing and the tree farm. Big brook trail to Perkins was thin and bumpy. Perkins clearing was mostly good with a couple of icy corners to watch out for. Coming out of Perkins I decided to take the hatchery brook trail to avoid the trail by Melody Lodge and Oak Mtn. It was a rough ride. Ended up making a loop around long level rd and fly creek then back up old rt 30 which was mostly good. Sacandaga and Lake Pleasant were both nice rides – did not ride any other lakes.

We really need more snow to make things great, but there is decent riding out there to be found if you are willing to ride some junk to get there.

Looks like I covered much of your ride on Sunday. Thankfully they had groomed up through Fawn Lake and Big Brook for the return trip via Perkins Clearing.
