Rode Evergreen this past Saturday and found a lot on the curve at the west end as always. I almost dumped it right on the curve. Would not have been good. The slush was about a foot deep here. So much so that we took the upper Morehouse trail ( C4 ) back around the pond at night. We went on to the the Alamo that day in Newport. Mobbed with sleds and riders chowing down. Trails all the way were great. Stopped at the Ohio Tavern on way back. Still mobbed at 5PM. Trails got a little chewed but still not that bad back to Evergreen. Morehouse is always a 10.
Talked to a lot of riders that used Piseco, Spy, Hinkley and Indian last Friday. Same answer–Slush. some said very bad, asked for ways around. Others said, put the hammer down and dont look back till your on solid white stuff, then look to see if all made it. And you’d better have a lot of rope with you as some said the slush holes were long ones. And plan on getting wet feet. I carry about a hundred feet cause in the old days I have been up to my knees when I had a 121 inch track. Now I have a 137 inch and stays up on it a lot better.
With Darin’s weather out look I dont see the lakes getting any better even though it was -11 Saturday night. So with this info I will stay on dry land. I hate slush. This week end is Super Bowl Sunday so it probably will not be to busy around town anyway.

Ron, I appreciate you and the few other people that post conditions and updates and will try to do the same when I am able to ride. I am not a facebook guy, and don’t plan to be, so I don’t have a good way of getting trail reports other than looking here and reading Darrin’s reports. I miss the old forum but I guess I am a bit of a dinosaur.

Still lots of slush even with the cold temps we’ve been having. Use caution on the east end of Lake Pleasant at the outlet – the race track from last weekends event was not fully removed, so there are some fairly big moguls that will toss you high if you hit them at enough speed.
