The owner of the dam opened it enough in anticipation of the rain to cause Panther Mtn. stream at the east end C4A to drop enough to cause a 3 foot high bank to plow through with open water under it on the west side. The water on this side is only about 2 foot deep but the muck makes it about 4 foot deep. We watched a gringo back out of the throttle here and the back end of the sled side into the water. We got him out but soaked to the crotch. I sat on the east side with his wife and showed her how to go around thru the park and out onto the the solid ice but by this time a guy (Jersey Mike) who has a camp in Evergreen and sunk his sled in Long Lake a few years back already had her husband around. They went back to their camp on Piseco to change his clothes. We all went around and headed for Rockys on Hinkley Lake. See my report for Morehous and Ohio trails
In the mean time we watched 4 trail rippers come flying down the steep hill on my side of the stream and hit the west 3 foot high bank with enough speed to launch each one about 6 feet in the air. One guy was holding his ribs cause he got way in the air and came down one his nose. Figured the handle bars got him but hey all blew down the lake heading west. We watched a lot of other riders turn around and either went all the way back to the west intersection of C4A and C4 or back thru the park. Did’nt see and more sleds sink so we went on our way.
Any way I’m going to call the Arietta trail boss to have him put up a sign at the intersection as you come off Piseco to take a left and take C4 over to Rt. 8 to head west.

Thanks for the warning, Ron. Evergreen was about the only lake in the area that I didn’t ride over the weekend and looks like that was a good choice…

Sounded like you were describing our group except there were 6 of us. We saw a bunch of guys standing around on that side of the stream. The last guy on the all black XRS landed a little squirrely.

It’s definitely not an obstacle that you can poke along over. You have to have enough speed to clear the open water then hold on over the 3 foot bank/jump. Lol

Our group would have been easy to spot, 3 red Lynx sleds in the bunch.

Watching you guys hit that wall on the other side of Panther Mtn. stream and knew you guys could ride. We went around thru the trailer park. By now and after tomorrow’s rain, its over. Ohio and Salisbury Clubs closed their trails last night. The OxBow Inn is closing on Sunday, April 2. If you guys are familiar with this place, my wife and I are there almost every Friday Night for Dinner.
PS If your desperate for a ride there is always Perkins to go round and round or the Powley Rd to go back and forth 17 miles. From Perkins you might sneak down Big Brook trails and Fawn Lake trails and get to the BOw with out to much mud.
See you all on the trails next year.
