    My nephews secondary sort of fell apart while we were 35 miles from his trailer. Found out from a local repair guy that these clutches come with fiber rollers in them from 2013 on which break or wear out sometimes causing the $120.00 belt to flip or blow apart. He said he repairs sometimes 3 a week but replaces the rollers with stainless steel ones and recommends you change them before it happens to you. What happens is the outer pulley will not come in all the way and the belts is stuck down low so your like in high gear when you start moving. This what you will notice first then it will start rattling. I got a 2016 e-tec with 2,300 miles on it and I’m going to have this guys replace them next week. You can call your local dealer and you will not find a service bulletin cause Skidoo does not want to replace 2 million or more of them. Happy Sleding

    I can not find anything about this on DooTalk web site but I talked to 2 dealers who said they know of the problem and have replace the roller with steel after market ones. Skidoo will not acknowlege this as they do not want to recall 2 million sleds and call it a wear problem. One dealer said he had a sled with 1200 miles on it. Not a wear problem.

    You skidoo e-tec owners out there In addition to the secondary rollers problem better pay attention to the intake manifold rubber mounts. If they crack and they will due to extreme heat, your in for a lot of grief as well as money. We have to ride in conditions here that will stress these e-tecs to the max. They run right at the leanest mixture needed to keep the engine from blowing. The computer can only do so much. My skidoo mechanic said they should be checked at the start of each season or when you put the sled to bed just to be sure they are OK or get ready to part with $1,700.00 dollars as I just did. I thought this only happened to the old antique sleds like my 1970 with the Tillison carb.
    Just got my sled back after a piston melt down caused by cracked rubber intake manifolds. New cylinder, piston, pin, clips, 2 intake manifolds (they were both cracked) and misc. gaskets and labor to cleaned out the aluminum in the power valve on the bad side.. It only had 2500 miles on it. I know Darrin usually doubles this in one season.

    So, Darrin – I see in another thread that you are planning to spring order a new sled. With your miles I’m assuming you will stay with 4 stroke? Which sled are you thinking of getting?

    Yes, I’m definitely going 4-stroke with the miles I put on.

    Leaning toward the 900 ACE Turbo, Renegade X package in all black.

    But it’s all speculation until I pull the lever on the spring order!

    Well, you have less than 2 weeks to decide on a spring order and it doesn’t look like dealers will have much on the floor next season. Let us know what you decide. Hell, you only live once – get the Mach! It’s only $20k!

    I was close to pulling the trigger on a spring order, but the short season this year made me decide to keep my old iron another season…I still love riding, but it is getting harder to justify as prices keep going up and length of winter keeps going down.

    Trigger, pulled!

    Not like I was crazy about spending the big cash. But with the miles I do, going into next winter with a sled approaching 14K miles doesn’t seem to be a prudent idea. Too many opportunities for worn components to snap and cost me riding time.

    I’ll just need to work less and add more riding days to whatever small winter we get.
