I took the kids for a 20 mile spin around town Sunday afternoon. By then, the trails are usually bumped up. But at least the traffic is pretty quiet as most people have headed for home.
The Indian Lake inner village trails were snirty and bumpy in the well traveled sections, but not the worst I’ve seen late on a weekend. Ski Hut trail and Little Canada were pretty good. Lake Adirondack was a nice crossing with no hint of slush.
Sabael trail was brutally rough. We only took it as far as Pashley Road then turned around back toward town. We tried C8 toward Headquarters for a ways. For the most part, it wasn’t much worse than around town, aside from a few water holes. Once we got about 3 miles past Adirondack Mountain Sports, we were clanking rocks pretty regularly, so we turned tail and headed back to town. No doubt you can ride the trail all the way out to Moose River Plains, but you might have to be patient.
I heard enough horror stories about S84/Blue Mountain trail not to bother with that. Heard a report that Newcomb trail was a pretty good ride until the county line, then it got horribly rough enroute to C8B.
Outlook:
The trails are scuffed down to snirt and a bit of dirt on the turns, but that new 4 inches of snow will give the groomers enough “material” to piece things back together this week. If we get nailed with Wednesday’s snow event, we could be sitting pretty going into a weekend for the first time in a while.
