Screamen Eagle snowmobiling run!

Inn on Piseco Lake

Started at -14*F early Tuesday and I was content to let it warm up before heading out.

By late morning, I was ready to roll!

I’d been through Inlet several times this winter, but hadn’t timed it right to hit Screamen Eagle for dinner. I was well overdue!

Would take it easy on this ride to break in a new drive belt. For the first 40 miles, I kept it under 40 mph with easy and variable throttling. No ripping lakes or anything like that!

Heading out

C8 leaving Indian Lake was GREAT and led to a very enjoyable ride out to Cedar River Headquarters. Encountered Town of Indian Lake groomer laying down ribbon on its return trip.

S88 trail from Headquarters to Cedar River Road had a fresh groom, screaming “HIT ME!”

Moose River Plains, Indian Lake side was MINT! Doesn’t get much better.

Moose River Plains, Inlet side was good riding to Red River-T, then got bumpy in places enroute to Limekiln gate.

Moose River Plains deadenders were GREAT!

Inlet loop trails were their usual enjoyable riding. Even took a jaunt on FX Matts trail to South Shore Road. Good decision, I’d say!

Wings!

Got to Screamen Eagle shortly after they opened at 3pm. Had my ole standby Peanut Butter Panic wings that Crazy Cal got me hooked on years ago. Still awesome!

Sal from Ohio recognized me and struck up conversation. He’s in Tug Hill for the week racking up rides on his 900 ACE Turbo. On this day’s ride, he rolled from Barnes Corners to Cedar River Headquarters. It was great talking with Sal about snowmobiling and life in general.

After dinner, we wished each other safe travels back to home base.

Back to Indian Lake

Moose River Plains, Indian Lake side was holding up as a great evening ride.

C8 from Headquarters to Indian Lake remained a good and comfortable ride. Some bumps and carbide clank through Forest Preserve section to Highway 28/30 crossing.

C8/S86 main drag into Indian Lake had shredder bumps, but holding up well enough.

S85/Ski Hut trail was 10 SECONDS TO LOVE!

S86a and S87 on the Victory Lap were the best I’ve seen them this winter.

Got back to the compound just after 6:30pm with 130 belt-friendly miles. With afternoon temperatures into the lower-20s and a bit of snow at times, it was a very pleasant ride.

Bottom line

Baseline snowpack around Indian Lake, NY is 1-2 feet. Snow bowls are holding 2-3+ feet of pack.

It’s amazing what we can do when we have the snow.

If you’re not riding here this week, you are missing the fun. Call off work SICK OR DEAD!
