Weekend Warrior Ride! Tupper Lake to Malone

Inn on Piseco Lake

When it’s the weekend and I gotta have it, trucking the snowmobile to Washington Street parking lot in Tupper Lake and turning the skis northward onto C7 is my favorite club in the bag!

The plan was for Darrin Jr and I to head out from Tupper Lake. Damion and Paulie & Son would head out from Lake Placid and we’d meet at Charlies Inn.

To my utter shock and joy, we found a nearly empty parking lot on Washington Street.

I WAS STOKED! Knew it was going to be my day.

This report is brought to you by Mangino Chevrolet Buick GMC in Amsterdam, NY & Ballston Spa, NYWe know that you have high expectations, and as a car dealer we enjoy the challenge of meeting and exceeding those standards each and every time. Dropped the sleds off the trailer and rolled from Tupper Lake just before 10:00am. Riding was AWESOME from the jump with mint conditions C7 northward to Lake Clear!

Met up with Damion and Co. and turned onto C7/Pole trail. Cloud riding! No regrets or pain when it’s miles of this:

I’ve been told that’s boring. Fine! Bore me to tears then. I’d hit that up ALL WINTER!

My friends would agree.

Found lumps between Onchiota and Loon Lake, but hit a fresh groom further north and followed it into Malone.

Base was thin in spots from Titus Mountain exit ramp through Teboville into Malone with some floating stones to kick around. But it was all freshly groomed when we rolled through that avenue.

Trail C8C toward Burke and Chateaugay hadn’t been opened yet, with the gate still CLOSED. Can’t wait to hit that when the time comes!

S80 Cornfield trail to Mo’s Pub and Grill was freshly groomed. But snow cover was blown thin with corn stubble and frozen ruts poking through.

Damion snapped a pic of the posse before we grabbed lunch.

Of course we ate well! I chowed down a smash burger with cheddar cheese and a basket of sweet potato fries.

The way back

Before taking off, we farted around with the communicators in attempt to have all 4 on the same comm. Best we could do was two separate pairs or have 3 hooked up & one left out. After wasting 20 minutes of life on that futile attempt, we reverted to Darrin Jr and myself for one pair and Damion and Paulie for the other.

Hit up Roberts Sports of Malone for fuel top off at the credit card pump. Surprised us with sub $4.00/gallon for 91 non ethanol!

Encountered snow squalls through Owls Head and Mountain View that dropped a fresh couple inches of snow since the morning. That was GREAT!

Besides the bumpy stuff between Loon Lake and Onchiota, C7 was rippin’ fun all the way back to Tupper Lake!

Damion and Co followed us back to Tupper Lake to pad the happy fun miles! They ended up with 168 for the day and found fresh groom on the way back to Lake Placid.

We returned to Tupper Lake around 5:30pm with 128 miles of track spun. What a day! Temperature in the mid-20s with off-and-on snow throughout.

Tupper Lake to Malone easy button came through AGAIN!

Bottom line

What can I say? Couldn’t expect much better for December 13th! And we’ve got the whole winter ahead of us.

WOW I FEEL GREAT!

It’s a long haul for most, but only an hour away from me.

Ride there once, you may never want to leave! It’s my favorite road trip.

For the ilsnow nation,

Darrin
