Tuesday stroll, Indian Lake to Inlet

Inn on Piseco Lake

Another day, another quarter in my pocket for a ride!

I’m not a fan of riding in pelting snow for hours. Visibility sucks and everything gets all wet. Almost as miserable as an NFL snow game.

Tuesday’s mission was to bang out a ride between 9:30am and mid-afternoon.

Then it can snow all it wants!

To Moose River Plains

Rode from end of Pelon Road and had a milky sunshine stroll on Adirondack Lake.

I followed a fresh groom out of town on C8 to Cedar River Headquarters. Beside some scalloped dips the first few miles out, it was GREAT!

S88 from Cedar River Headquarters to end of Cedar River Road was freshly groomed and AMAZING!

Also followed fresh groom into Moose River Plains, Indian Lake side for the WIN!

Moose River Plains, Inlet side had very slight rollers to Big-T intersection, good riding. Took Mitchell Ponds loop for the first time this winter. When there is enough snow to bury the rocks, it’s a fun 3-and-a-half mile diversion.

Red River-T intersection enroute to Limekiln end was bumper than the rest of Moose River Plains, but far from horrible.

Inlet

Connector from Moose River Plains had a few thin/pebbly spots. Inlet loop trails were their usual immaculate riding.

Ole Barn to downtown Inlet via Gilbert Road was decent in places, bumpy in others. Standard fare for that section.

Couldn’t find any restaurant open in Inlet, so I zipped across 4th Lake to Daikers. Turns out Daikers wouldn’t open until 4pm.

Zipped back to Inlet for a refuel and quick bite to eat at Red’s Market. Was good to get out of the cold and reset for the trek home.

Back to Indian Lake

Moose River Plains had soft studder-ripple in places from the day’s traffic – added to whatever conditions existed in the morning.

Vast majority of C8 from Headquarters to Indian Lake remained very enjoyable riding.

Last few miles through Forest Preserve section to Highway 28/30 crossing had soft ski chatter and a few carbide clanks.

S85 / Ski Hut trail had a fresh groom that yelled “HIT ME!”

Also enjoyed a fresh groom on S86a on my way to crossing Adirondack Lake. Snow was coming down hard by the end of my ride. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED on getting that done!

Got back to Pelon Road mid-afternoon with 123 easy-peasy miles.
