Getting sick last week cut into my ride time. So, I decided on having Monday saddle time.
Didn’t have any plan, other than rolling out from the compound and see where the day takes me.
Whenever I see a fresh groom through Bear Trap Swamp, happy trails are ahead.

Did a preemptive Victory Lap with freshly groomed and untouched S85/Ski Hut trail being the crown jewel!

Saw that C8 to Headquarters and C8A/Old S84 to Blue Mountain Lake were groomed.

Decisions, decisions….
Chose the Blue Mountain Lake to Newcomb run. Narrow woods trail was brownish on turns, hill climbs and under dense evergreen canopy, but also pretty as a postcard at times.

C8A/Old 538 Newcomb trail didn’t have a fresh groom on Indian Lake side. But I had no complaints about rolling this.

Hit a fresh groom in Newcomb after Essex County gate, yet to be touched.
OHHHHHH YEAHHHH!!!!!!

Did a mile sniff test on C7B to Long Lake. That was bumpy and rough. Didn’t feel like risking 13 miles of lumps through that avenue. More than happy to turn back and ride the ribbon highway.
C8A to Newcomb proper? Like butter!

Section along 28N to Lake Harris hadn’t been groomed after weekend carnage, but wasn’t horrible. With light snow in the air, I didn’t anticipate a stellar view from Highs Peeks Overlook. So, I sat at the lakeshore for a few minutes to regroup.
Back to Indian Lake
Not much to report, other than a nice ride!
Once back in town, I saw a fresh groom onto C8/Sabael trail.
OHHHHHH YEAHHHH!!!!!!

Indian Lake and Lewey Lake had plenty of slush. But I didn’t have any trouble skating over it. Campsites trail was bumpy, but not yet horrifying.
2 Mile from Hell had not been groomed after weekend carnage. Didn’t feel any need to press that, so I turned tail back to Indian Lake.
By afternoon, Indian Lake main artery trails had dirty corners and turns. But their bark, far worse than their bite.

A refuel stop for my snowmobile and a breakfast sandwich refuel for me at One Stop around 2:30pm.

Before heading back to the compound, I ripped S86 between One Stop and Lone Birch back and forth three times for cheap thrills. Can’t think of a better way to pad the happy miles.

110 miles in less than 5 hours, including the lunch stop. One of the easiest rides I’ve had around Indian Lake in a very long time.
