I hadn’t ridden Tug Hill in a couple of years, so I was game for this trip. Darrin Jr and I got to Smith Road parking lot in Constableville by 9am. Damion got there about a half-hour later, delayed by slow traffic on his route.
There were only about a half-dozen trucks parked when we pulled in. So, I knew we’d be off to a great start.
Snowpack was measured in multiple feet and plowed banks were HIGH!

Into Tug Hill
Headed straight up the gut via C7B and C7D to get the ride rolling. A blow-by-blow trail report wasn’t necessary for the morning, because almost everything we touched on Tug Hill was like riding a cloud.

The open field riding in northern Tug was addictive as crank.
On to Copenhagen
C5B was plush and moderately bumpy for several miles, then we hit a fresh groom north of NY-12. Remainder of C5B and C5 into Copenhagen was helmet-whipping booty call over the fields.
Stopped at The Cottage Inn for lunch. Moderately busy there with a couple dozen sleds in the lot. I enjoyed the Cottage corned beef sandwich with fries.
Back to Tug Hill
We looped via C5 & C5B into Barnes Corners. This route was moderately bumpy at times. But we managed to hit a couple of freshly groomed stretches along the way.
By late afternoon, Tug Hill had been THRASHED! Flat Rock Road was approaching sno-cross moguls, after being a nice ride only a few hours earlier.
We encountered throttle-jackals passing us on blind turns. At that point, I was ready for the ride to end.
Made it back to Smith Road parking lot unscathed just before dark with 154 miles for the day.

Bottom line
Tug Hill in morning. Thug Hill by evening. Even so, was definitely worth the trip to scratch my Tug Hill itch for another winter (or two). Great ride with family and a ton of laughs along the way.
I’m looking forward to riding local.
For the ilsnow nation,
Darrin
