We be snowmobiling in ilsnow land!

Wilder Performance

Yes! There were several rigs parked in the upper parking lot at Brown’s Farm near the end of Cedar River Road Monday morning. Snowmobilers are riding into Moose River Plains.

I saw Town of Indian Lake hauling its groomer and drag to the end of Cedar River Road for its winter deployment on our side of Moose River Plains. Hearing reports of people riding through the Plains from both sides.

ilsnow land is OPEN FOR BUSINESS!

Indian Lake local trails

Not worth any real riding consideration yet, but gate to C8A/Old S84 at the end of Benton Road has been open with the trail tracked.

Newcomb

Town of Newcomb reports gates on their trails remain closed for now. We eagerly await more snow to grease the skids toward our friends in the north.

Perkins Clearing

Last week, I reported that north end of Perkins Clearing Road thence all the way back from Perkins-T into Carpenter Hill Road was being plowed for logging. Keep that in consideration if you’re thinking of riding into Perkins Clearing. Hopefully, loggers will be pulling out of there shortly, if not already.

South end of Perkins Clearing Road will be plowed for logging and closed to snowmobiling this winter. This will require use of the southern bypass trail. Remainder of Perkins Clearing should be open for snowmobiling, including Mud Lake Road.

Midweek Outlook

RAIN rhymes with PAIN, and that’s what we’ll endure Tuesday night and Wednesday. Unfortunately, modelology now indicates at least 1.00-1.50 inches of upcoming rain, with a chance of reaching 2 inches. That would do real damage to our early snow bounty.

Hopefully, we’ll score enough lake-effect snow Wednesday Night into Thursday to push Moose River Plains back into the play category for Snodeo Weekend.

For the ilsnow nation,

Darrin

Hey Darrin: Did you actually ride yesterday or just take pictures from your truck? I’m not a snowmobiler maybe someday but how many groomers are a part of your snowmobile club? Does each of the local towns have their own groomer? I appreciate all of the weather updates and trail conditions that you provide for locals and out-of-towners that might be thinking of riding on any given day! I hope the upcoming rain event is not devastating to the trails and maybe it doesn’t rain for a long duration! Safe riding to everyone!
