Diehard report

Wilder Performance

This week’s meltdown has plunged us into diehard season. There’s still some riding to be had, if you absolutely need to spin the track one more time.

Precip bucket was dry Friday morning. So, at least we dodged the rain and didn’t wash everything open. Remnant snow pack is generally in the 8-16 inch range around Indian Lake, although the snow bowls (especially over the southwest flank of ilsnow land) hold more. However, exposed locations in the town square have been burnt down to 6 inches or less, even down to dirt-n-grass in places.

Here is the S86 main drag into Indian Lake, Friday morning:

My best advice for the diehard-ers this weekend would be to start from somewhere that has direct or near direct access to Perkins Clearing, Speculator Tree Farm, Powley Road or even Morehouse. Watch out for blowdown – we had strong winds last night that have continued into Friday.

Don’t think the lakes will be giving much help with cooling and lube once they tighten up hard Friday night:

Extended Outlook

It appears likely we will embark on the typical Adirondack slow death march into mud season from here. Various model-ology are all over the place in terms of colder shots and possible snow opportunities. I can’t rule out a March snowstorm – but it’s wing and a prayer stuff at this point.

With climatology maximum afternoon temperatures now squarely above 32*F for ilsnow land, it would take significant snowfall to made a difference lasting more than a few days.

For the ilsnow nation,

Darrin
