Wednesday’s snow was good for a cheap thrill here in ilsnow land. Here is an estimate of the snow cover Thursday morning:
Yeah, sure…. If you want to slither down a back road at camp for a pass or do a bit of lawn jockey action, you could bang that out today if you want it that badly.
But, warmer temperatures Friday and into the weekend will lay waste to the meager covering of snow we have now.
Any hope next week?
I’m so glad that you asked! GFS is depicting a robust weather system approaching us on Wednesday December 16, 2020:
There are a number of things to like about this: Strong shortwave energy moving through the Great Lakes States, coastal low development and a blocking high near Newfoundland to wedge in a “cold enough to snow” air mass over ilsnow land.
This opportunity is still nearly a week away, but it does enjoy good cross model and ensemble support. That’s the best I can do for you at this point.
For the ilsnow nation,
Darrin
