Ain’t over until it’s…. Update 4/5/19

Wilder Performance

With the cold (for April) weather we’ve had here the past several days, snow pack has only been slowly whittled away from roadsides, buildings, southerly exposures and trees.

In the woods, there is still 1-2+ feet of snow off-trail. I can tell you that places like Powley Road, Perkins Clearing and Speculator Tree Farm are certainly ride-able.

538/Newcomb trail would normally be a good spring ride under these conditions. But the first 3-4 miles was plowed most of the winter, so I can’t really tell you what to expect if you try that.

On top of that, the south-central Adirondacks picked up 2-4 inches of new snow late Friday, which accumulates much easier on remaining snow pack than roads, parking lots and bare ground this time of year.

Here is what the remnant winter snow pack, plus our new snow looks like, as of Friday evening:

Weekend Outlook

Well…it’s April die-hard riding with a fresh application of white paint. Temperatures are expected to shoot into the 40s on Saturday, so come up early if you want to see it nice and white. Still some nice riding in places if you really want it bad enough.

You’re on your own this time of year with snowmobile trail maintenance ended for the season. There may be blow-down from the wind storm earlier this week.

Remember that Town of Webb/Inlet trails are CLOSED.

One more thing…

Indian Lake Snowarriors would love to have people at this breakfast to show our appreciation for the land owners who allow snowmobile trails to cross their property each winter. We’ll even have a fun 50-50 drawing to help pay down the new (to us) Newcomb trail groomer which did get a workout in making the ole 538/Newcomb trail as smooth as could be.

So there you have it, one more report from me this season….

For the ilsnow nation,

Darrin
