Get out and ride! Update 1/30/19

Wilder Performance

Latest storm dropped 8 inches in Indian Lake and many places reported a foot or more along the Route 8 Corridor in the southern flank of ilsnow land.

Morning snow removal duties curtailed my riding, but I was sure to get out there for the afternoon.

The ride started sunny, then the snow squalls rolled in mid-afternoon.

I did the run up to Long Lake thence over to the Newcomb House and back down to Indian Lake for a tidy 120+ miles. Not really much need for a “trail report” because 99% of what I touched was awesome riding! I saw three groomers making their rounds in Indian Lake.

You can catch me swirling around Indian Lake village here:

Even C7B to Long Lake was great. The groomers have done an amazing job in filling up the left-over chuckholes with the new snow.

With the wind and blowing snow and being unsure of what awaited me on the ice, I didn’t want to run Long Lake into town, so I took that funky little bumpy trail in. Jennings Pond was quite rough with frozen slush.

Here some Gold Star stuff from today’s ride:

S84 Enroute to Blue Mountain Lake
Trail to Newcomb House
Snowarriors Magic on Newcomb Trail

The only drawback were the bitter cold temperatures once the sun went down. But that does minimize traffic and keeps the trails together nicely. Riding stuff like this is what I dream of when we’re in the middle of #summersucks.

Weekend Outlook?

Duh! Just get up here and ride.

Don’t over-think it, JUST DO IT!!!

Doesn’t get any simpler than that….

For the ilsnow nation,

Darrin

This report is brought to you by Adirondacks Speculator Region Chamber of Commerce. Speculator has long been one of my favorite places to ride! There are lots of options, whether you want to ride around Speculator for the day, or launch a 250 mile mega-miler. Speculator is loaded with businesses eager to cater to snowmobilers. Look them up at the Speculator Chamber and grab a copy of their snowmobile trail map. Be sure to tell them that Darrin @ ilsnow.com sent you.
