Few things are more satisfying to me than seeing my car buried under nearly a foot-and-a-half of powder. 🙂
Last night’s storm left some wondering if ilsnow land would get nailed. In the end we did! Most snowfall reports I saw in the central Adirondacks were around 16 inches. Speculator Mountain picked up nearly 2 feet.
The cool thing besides getting crushed is that nearly everywhere else in Upstate New York got nailed as well. This will open up lots of other areas to snowmobiling and eventually relieve some of the snowmobiling pressure around here:
Snow pack is now greater than 2 feet for most of ilsnow land! We’ve come a long way since Crazy Cal and I had to trailer order to scratch the itch in marginal riding conditions a few weeks ago.
No riding for me today. I spent a 5+ hour tour of duty behind the snowblower and I did eventually extricate the Camry from its snowy tomb. 😉
A couple buddies did ride around Perkins and broke open the 2 Miles From Hell enroute to 45 belt-smokin’ and gas-suckin’ miles.
Around Indian Lake village, I saw that snowmobilers were out and about enjoying the new bounty. 🙂
C8/Sabael Trail Update
As of late Sunday afternoon, the sign still says “TRAIL CLOSED”
Outlook
Big snow + Holiday Weekend Traffic = Big Bumps until the new stuff gets assimilated into the base. Remember to dress for survival on Monday with the brutally cold temperatures and wind chill. Now that many of the trails are getting packed, the groomers can begin to tamp the new snow down.
Looking ahead to midweek, we have a minor snow to sleet/freezing rain event on Wednesday with temperatures rising into the lower-30s by days end. Rain is expected for Wednesday night with temperatures into the middle-30s overnight. Then rain is likely to change back to snow on Thursday. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that it won’t hurt too bad.
So there you have it. ENJOY!
For the ilsnow nation,
Darrin
