Hello..You haven’t heard from me in a while!
After last year’s pathetic excuse for a winter, I’m content to wash the stink off and reboot for this winter.
Onto the important stuff:
The Boreas Ponds is another tract that New York State will classify soon. If given the Wild Forest Classification, the Boreas Ponds tract would provide a good opportunity for a snowmobile connection from Newcomb to North Hudson. As present, there are NO good snowmobile connections from ilsnow land into the eastern Adirondacks.
Despite the fact there are already pre-existing roads throughout the Boreas Ponds tract, you can bet the tree-huggers will try to shut us snowmobiliers out, like they are still trying to do in the Essex Chain Lakes tract.
Check out the Boreas Ponds write-up from New York State Snowmobiling Association:
Boreas Ponds: Wild Forest or Wilderness?
Logging roads, skidder trails, etc. Clearly, these should be open for snowmobiling. If this sounds familiar, recall my Exposé on the “Southern Gateway” into the Essex Chain Lakes tract from a few years ago.
The Town of Indian Lake is hosting an access meeting on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 @10AM at Indian Lake Town Hall for access advocates to get together and start planning a strategy to have the State classify most of this tract as Wild Forest.
If you possibly can, please meet with us Tuesday, August 30, 2016 @ 10AM at Indian Lake Town Hall. Representatives from Adirondack snowmobile clubs would be especially welcome.
