A few people have asked me how to get to Snow Bash and what goes on there, so I’m sure there are others who need to find out.
Punch the following address into your GPS or favorite internet map page:
100 Nellis Rd, Cold Brook, NY 13324
Or you can just follow the signs on Route 8 north of Utica until you get there.
This poster has a good overview of what goes on at Snow Bash:
The highlight of Snow Bash are the races. If the smell of 2 stroke cologne and the sight of sod getting tossed into the air doesn’t get you amped, you’re just not ready for winter:

Ride Clean NY
I will be at the Ride Clean NY tent both days, doing my part to get snowmobilers to re-think the possible ramifications of riding a sled while intoxicated. It’s usually best for me to let people gawk at this wreck, then let them ask questions:
You can click the picture to get a blow-up of the damage. Even then, you need to see it in person to get the full scope of the traumatic impact this sled and its driver endured in a split second.
Most people assume that a drunk got on this snowmobile and smacked into a tree. But this sled was actually operated by a sober rider who was struck from the front left side by an oncoming intoxicated rider. The tone of the conversation usually changes quickly when people realize that an innocent rider died on this sled, along with the intoxicated rider who struck him.
The memorial held on Indian Lake the weekend after the fatal wreck was a stirring testimonial as to why this plague needs to be stopped:

Buy a tee-shirt and some stickers at the Ride Clean NY tent this weekend to support our cause to make snowmobiling safer in New York State. With your help, we can work with snowmobile clubs and law enforcement to prevent needless and totally avoidable tragedies.
This isn’t the most popular message in snowmobiling, but it needs to be broadcast loud and clear.
We thank Williams Sledsports, sponsor of the Amateur Bash Master, for their support of Ride Clean NY and everything else they do to promote safe snowmobiling.
See ya at the Bash!
For the ilsnow nation,
