I took a Sunday afternoon stroll with the kids. Inner village trails were groomed and in decent shape. But the mid-winter luster we had yesterday is gone. The high traffic trails were snirty with bald spots starting to poke through.
42nd & Broadway, Ski Hut trail and Little Canada were all in fantastic shape.
Sabael trail was snirty and somewhat choppy. There was a nasty looking mudhole, but with logs to cross it safely. The short spur from Route 30 down to the lake was thin, but not completely bald yet.
We played around on the lakes for a bit. Temperatures were a hair above freezing, so the powder was gone, replaced by sticky wet stuff. The XP actually ran a little hot under the hood while she was plowing through the thick dense stuff off the beaten path. Then it was back to the compound after about 15 miles.

Midweek Snowmobiling Outlook:
High temperatures are forecast to be mainly in the 30s this week with abundant cloud cover. No rain is expected. If that ends up being the case, the trail base in the woods will hold on nicely. Do keep in mind that trails exposed to any decent sunlight will start getting cooked. If the groomers work the leftover material this week, there could be some great spring riding and perhaps we can squeak in one more riding weekend before die-hard season sets in. Be on the lookout for spots where water is starting to eat away from the trail base from underneath.
