Snow Conditions for 12/8/12

Wilder Performance

Yes, it does happen. I was happily surprised to see upwards of a fresh inch of snow yesterday evening. It’s not enough to ride on, but there is at least a faint appearance of winter out there!

It’s raining this morning with a few pockets of freezing rain. NYDOT does a great job of salting the State Highways, so I wouldn’t anticipate many travel problems today. Come up to the Snodeo in Old Forge and make some new friends. I was there yesterday and had a blast!

What’s next?

I still believe that the weather pattern will begin to transition into something that will support meaningful snow sometime between mid-December and Christmas. More on that coming soon…..

Some of the latest ensembles are now painting a grim picture with the Polar Vortex retreating from North America by mid-December. If that scenario occurs, it could have DIRE consequences for this winter.
