Does anyone know if any clearing has been done on the Thurman end of the trail (Georgia Brook - Cod Pond)?

If not is anyone interested in getting together a work party?

Anyone know what is going on in the Thurman club?

I looked on their website, the top of the page had a request for "volunteers to clear downed trees on the trails". There's also a pic of someone with a chainsaw, on an unmanned trail.
The trail map, however, is dated 2012. Maybe no changes?

that club took a severe blow when the train came through and took away their main trail. idk whats going on, but i heard leadership issues and they were on the decline, just what i heard though the vine.

Yeah, they were looking for an officer, too (Secretary?).
I made it as far as Stony Creek Road-I think it was called-to where Harrisburg Lake Club's groomer picked up.
But, it was late in the year, and the road was bare, I was already over 100 miles from my house, etc.
I remember reading that without the connector, there's no legal way to get to Lake George going that way.

Yes, the loss of the trail on the RR tracks was a major blow. The club tried to work out an alternate route but it involved road riding and some residents didn't like it. I believe there were some other issues resulting in some key people leaving the club. I don't know all the details.

I'm guessing that the note about blow down clearing is specifically about all the trees down on the Oregon Trail. I would like to help but I'm too far away to go on short notice. However I'm going to call and find out.

I have just as much fun doing this stuff as riding. I'm thinking maybe this weekend if the weather is decent. If there are some other ilsnow'ers who want to do it then maybe we can organize a work party. Ride from Speculator or maybe the parking area at Griffin, or Georgia Brook if enough plowed out. Anyone been on Rt. 8 and know if there is any plowed parking at the Georgia Brook Trailhead?

The parking lot at Griffin is plowed. Saw that for myself when I rode down to Griffin a couple days ago by sled.

Don't know about Georgia Brook though.

Wasn't brave enough to find out.

Did you ride south on 8 from Griffen (on the Girard Sugarbush trail towards Pine Orchard)? If so how was the coverage and trail condition. The only reason I was thinking about trying to go in from the Georgia Brook trailhead is to avoid the Girard and Cotter Brook section if there is not a lot of snow. I also don't know if Wells has maintained the Cotter Brook trail since the Thurman side is probably still blocked by the blowdown.

Does anyone have a trail report for the Oregon loop? Any blow down, or unbroken trail? Wet spots?

Never mind I found out myself. :) All trails were in good shape with the blow downs cut out and trails groomed. Some new blow downs here and there, but could be gone around in the woods. The ice in the ford on Stoney Creek is going away fast.
