Today John Walker and I rode snowmobiles from Long Lake to Sabattis. Long Lake trails were excellent and Sabattis Road was very rideable. From Sabattis we rode the Railroad tracks to Horseshoe Lake. From there rode the St Lawrence County trails to Star Lake. Both the Childwold Snopackers and Cranberry Lake Mountaineers gave us a nice flat ribbon to ride. 90 miles from Long Lake to Star Lake and did not see another sled but saw two groomers. After getting gas in Star Lake we headed toward Harrisville in Lewis County. Took C8 toward Number 4 road. Trails maintained by the Long Pond Snowmobile Club was excellent. After riding Number 4 road for a few miles we got onto the Brantingham Trail System and headed toward Old Forge. Brantingham area received lots of snow and trails weren't as good as the others but still decent. Rode part of the Old Forge system and headed for Beaver River. Old Forge trails had been groomed and tracks were good to Beaver River. Had burgers at the Norridgewock and then headed to Sabattis on the Railroad tracks. Compared to the other trails this stretch did not compare in quality. Retraced Sabattis Road and Long Lake trails back home. All told 205 miles right from the doorstep.
