Anyone planning to do some April riding? If I was local I would, but I'm done for the season...only rode in April once. I think it was in '07 or '08. The first weekend of April that spring was winter-like conditions. Fell apart quickly after that. Sounds like April riding could be done this year, but could be some rough stuff getting to good riding.

Very good riding today. Nice weather. Sunny but not too warm. Sacandaga perfect. Fawn Lake and Big Brook trail good, small bumps, minimal bare. still frozen solid. Perkins, Jessup River, Carpenter Hill, Mud Lake Roads mostly excellent, few minor bare spots.

Did not go all the way to Speculator. Passable yesterday, probably OK today. Rain will kill it.

Quite a few sleds out. Looked like close to 50 people out ice fishing on Fawn Lake.

Check out John Grave's ride to Mosquito Hill on face book. (wed. 4/1/15) No bare spots even at the hill. Lot of snow still left in the woods.

Rode Wednesday. Was one of the best rides this winter because of the strong Sun. Did Lake Pleasant, Sacandaga, Fawn Lake, Big Brook, Mud Lake, Tree Farm, River Trail. Only problems was connection between Lake Pleasant and Sacandaga. Also small section of the River Trail by parking lot. Today the lakes looked like they had water on them.I didn't venture out. Picked up about 7 beer cans on Fawn Lake Trail and Big Brook. No class.

Lake Sacandaga had lots of water and some slush/granular snow yesterday. Froze up solid overnight and we had about 2" of new snow.

So far today I have ridden across to Moffits and over to Oxbow and Fall Lake. New snow mostly melted on former bare spots but still some on the rest of the trail. Packed trail surfaces hard. Mix of bare ice and snow on lakes. Still cold enough that the new snow is blowing on the ice. Insigificant water around the edge in a few spots. Pretty good conditions for April 5.

Was thinking of going over to Powley or Morehouse but the forecast was for possible sleet/rain this afternoon so I didn't plan a long ride. However so far mix of sun and clouds, light wind, temp about 35, pretty nice weather.

Forecast for tomorrow doesn't look great. Maybe rain/snow mix but I'd say conditions in the morning would be good.

Tree farm access from old 30 might be a good bet. Pick your way around bare at south end of Perkins then Mud Lake/Carpenter Hill and northwest Jessup River Road probably good. Some bare spots on Big Brook but probably passable to intersection and then out to Fawn Lake/Sacandaga or Oxbow/Piseco. Powley probably still pretty good.

SADLY, I gave up yesterday, treated fuel and "fogged" E-Tec.
