Anyone know if any Speculator trails are getting groomed this week? Some areas were getting pretty bumpy last weekend, but with recent warm spell and thin cover in places I'm wondering if grooming will happen.

I am watching this post as I would like to ride Speculator/Perkins Clearing this Friday. If things looks good, I will hopefully have a small group coming up.

Hi everyone as far as drags trails, or pleasant riders trails go I can't say if they are going to do a Friday morning or Thursday night groom but what I can tell you is that the town groomed perkins clearing, big brook and fawn lake on Monday so they are flat and frozen. Mason lake and lewey lake trail( aka two miles of heaven) will not be groomed again unless we get more snow on them - sorry - we did the best we could with what we had but the terrain is so off it took a lot of snow to fill the holes and now they are bareing up quickly. --- Enjoy perkins and fawn lake and skip down one of the lakes to our local rest spots, it's spring riding any miles are bonus miles. Randy.

Thanks for the report. How is the trail surface for cooling? Any loose snow or is it all hard pack?

Firehouse trail to Perkins was OK last weekend, but the usual spot on the hill past Oak mtn to Melody trail was thin and bumpy. I would imagine it's passable with no problem, but may not be much to groom so it probably won't be the best ride. Hatchery Brook trail is a nice loop to avoid that hill and it was in decent shape last weekend.

It was great to hear the town has been out where they were able. Would be nice to hear if DRAG or Pleasant Riders have been able to get to any trails this week. Can anyone give a report?

I don't believe anyone has been out grooming do to the fact everything is frozen solid. There has been no sled traffic at all since Sunday. Haven't heard a single sled go by my house.

I have been in Lake Pleasant since Monday night when I went to the Hamilton County Amateur Radio Club meeting to talk about redio communications during the June 19-21 Speculator Pilots Reunion fly-in. I had planned to go snowmobiling on Tuesday and Wednesday. Unfortunately instead I've been trapped inside with the flu. I haven't been more then 10 steps outside the back door since Monday night. The conditions look good out on Sacandaga and I heard some snowmobiles go by today. My father said the low was -1° this morning but it looked like a really nice sunny day out. It has been sooo frustrating to see what looks like great weather and conditions but no be able to take advantage of it.

DRAG groomed the trail from the Village to Perkins along w/ the Village trails early this week and it was passable w/ bare spots and snirt in the typical spots. We also groomed Page Street and then moved both BR's to Oak Mt. The PB groomed the river trail to the tree farm and was re-located there in case the river trail opens up.

Bottom line ... Riding in Speculator will continue w/ Spring like conditions. DRAG will continue to groom in the tree farm as conditions permit. If we get more snow we will groom the Village w/ the BR's. Enjoy it while it lasts!

Thanks for the grooming reports. I plan to hit everything in the Speculator area tomorrow. I will try to get a ride report out Sat night for anyone thinking of a Sun ride.
