A friend wants to head out there Friday , not sure if there will be enough snow/ lube to make it. Not a fan on riding on ice , the others are renting sleds hence they don't care about damage done to carbides etc. whats your take.

We are down at the lodge end of piseco and we rode to powley rd and some of the other trails heading down to Ohio hotel. As long as it stays cold enough I think the lake will be ok and the trails should be good all the way to haskells. The short hop from haskells to the hotel is generally a little thin but what I saw from the road Sunday leads me to believe you'll be ok, not great but ok.

I've set out a couple times trying to make it from Oxbow to the Ohio Tavern, or at least a nice loop in that general direction, and keep getting side tracked south. Should I be looking at C4C and C4 for decent trail conditions to do that?

Stick to c4 all the way to noblesboro bridge. Then go over bridge and flow it thru the woods to haskells from there your almost there. There is no really road riding on this trip.

I agree with the advice solids gave. It will be bumpy from the bridge to the tavern, but this is the best way to go from Speculator this time of year to avoid road riding. The only other advice I would offer is to avoid Evergreen Lake. It's a bit longer to go around, but there were some big holes on Evergreen when I rode it a few weeks ago and a recent post from Ron Rybicki said it is now even worse. You may be able to make it, but to me it's not worth the risk of hitting one of those open holes. I can't imagine trying to get a sled out of there, never mind the risk of getting hurt.
