Curious to know if anyone has been out riding the past couple of days and can give a report.

I rode the weekend of 1/31-2/1 and conditions were really good despite needing more snow in some areas. I also rode last weekend (2/7-2/8) and trails that had some bony spots were much better with some added snow cover. We rode the poker run Saturday, which is always fun but not a high-mileage day. Rode some more Sunday morning then left to drive home as the storm was starting. I heard that storm ended up dropping a foot of snow in the area, so I'm thinking the trails must be in prime condition now - probably as good as it gets! :letitsnow: :rev: :letitsnow:

I rode about 50 miles today. In to Perkins via Fawn Lake/Big Brook on freshly groomed trail. Turned off the groomed trail at HM115 and rode to Mossy Vly and Nickel Vly on new snow. Helped an older couple that whad a machine stuck off the edge of the trail. When I came back on Mud Lake Road the groomer had gone by. Rode out to JRR and checked out the new bypass trail wich was also freshly groomed, then turned around and rode freshly groomed S82C trail out to Mason Lake. Passed the groomer on 2MFH about half way to Lewey Lake. Stopped, had a snack. Sun came out, great view north across Lewey. Groomer came out to Lewey as I was getting ready to head back so I had fresh groom all the way back to Mason and only a few tracks on the fresh groom on S82C. Then fresh groom on JRR back to Mud Lake Road where the groomer had come back out. A little rough out to Rt. 30 but probably that has been groomed by now. Fresh groom all the way back to Speculator. Roughest trail was LP1 between the lakes. Town hadn't gotten to it yet. Maybe tehyt will do it on Wednesday. Lakes decent, no slush encountered. Almost no snowmobile traffic. Saw maybe 10 total go by the house on the lake in the morning while I was clrearing the roof. Saw the 2 people I helped get unstuck, passed a few more on the trails, and chatted with a couple at Mountain Market.

Riding back from LP to Glenfield in the morning. I hope Arietta and Morehouse were out grooming today.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like your timing with the groomers was right on! It's a great feeling when you turn on a trail and see fresh groomer tracks.

Actually I was hoping for no groomer or other tracks on Fawn Lake/Big Brook but I didn't get ourt early enough. I did have some fresh powder on the Carpenter Hill trail to Mossy Vly and on Mud Lake Road to the Nickel Vly intersection .

95 miles yesterday. Lake Pleasant to Glenfield. Trail between Oxbow and Piseco was the best I've seen it in a long time. Then freshly groomed trail all the way from Evergreen lake through Arietta and Morehouse to Nobleboro. Met Ron Rybicki & Rob talking to Ohio groomers on S46A and we headed over to South Lake on C4H. Ron got stuck in the slush and we spent over an hour getting him out. We all got wet feet. Then we headed over to North Lake and though Sand Pond Falls out to Bear Creek Road at Millbrook. C4H not groomed but passable. Headed out Bear Creek Road to the RR tracks. They went to the Wigwam, I went the rest of the way back to Glenfield. Some rought trails around Woodgate/ White Lake but I had the rare treat of freshly groomed C8C all the way from C7C to Lyons Falls, and the railroad bed trail almost as good the rest of the way to Glenfield. :D

I envy those of you who can ride regularly mid-week.

Freestyle, I rode across Evergreen Lake last Sunday and was surprised to see a few open water holes. Did you notice that yesterday or have they frozen over? I had a couple of young riders following me, so I was a bit concerned when I saw those.

Moral of the story
DONT EVER FOLLOW FREESTYLEBACKCOUNTRY
He will try to take you places where you shouldn't be.
But the scenery was beautiful
I need a 16 inch by 136 inch track minimum to run fresh powder on a lake.
Yes Evergreen is going to hurt someone at night. Those holes are open bottomless pits, and you will spear the other side. A lot of people have gotten hurt and stuck thru the years and had to be rescued. The owner of the dam opened it during all that rain at Christmas time and forgot to close it till one of his lease's told him that someone was going to get hurt. Now with no melting snow it is not coming up to fill the holes. Its closed now.

I can do it but many times it comes at a high price in terms of getting behind on work or not being able to respond immediately to phone calls, etc. , and then having to scramble to keep customers happy. The other disadvantage is that you tend to be riding by yourself which I don't mind except for safety and also I miss the social aspects.
